Companies defend use of aircraft, expand for future upswing

Charleston, S.C.-based DavisAir Inc. is among companies expanding in preparation for the eventual end of the recession. The company is adding more planes and could expand from a fleet of one Beechcraft KingAir to include a smaller plane and a larger plane. Another company, Massachusetts-based high-end boutique jet charter Magellan Jets, recently opened a Charleston office with plans to secure business in the Southeast.
