Duke Energy showcases smart grid technology in Kentucky

Duke Energy has transformed an office park in Northern Kentucky into a showcase for smart grid technology. The Envision Center features dishwashers that can run when electricity is least expensive, and water heaters that can fire up for a specific shower time. However, before smart grids become the norm, infrastructure needs to be in place, along with hardware, software and education.
