OPEI concerned about safety of higher ethanol mixes for small engines

An independent researcher hired by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute questions the methodology of an ethanol study commissioned by the Department of Energy, which concluded that ethanol blends of 15% were safe for engines. "We need to acknowledge that current equipment -- including boats, chain saws, lawn mowers, snowmobiles, motorcycles, generators and other small-engine equipment -- may be permanently damaged and poses a safety risk if E15 fuel is used," said Kris Kiser, executive vice president of OPEI.
