Small-business loan applications on rise at nonprofits

Experts are recommending that small-business owners reach out to family and friends for loans to help them survive the lending crisis because the federal economic-stimulus bill has offered little help for cash-strapped companies. Nonprofit business-assistance programs are reporting an increase in requests for loans from small firms as the economic crisis continues.
