Jean-Claude Trichet, president of the European Central Bank, and some other central bankers said stimulus programmes, low interest rates and less expensive energy prices are bolstering the prospects for growth and a turnaround in the global economy. "We're approaching a moment where we might have a pickup," Trichet said. He also indicated that investors might be underestimating government measures to boost the economy.
