Wal-Mart to enter market for electronic medical records

Sam's Club, a unit of Wal-Mart Stores, plans to work with Dell and eClinicalWorks to launch by this spring a service for electronic medical records aimed at small physician practices. Dell will handle computer installations, while eClinicalWorks will provide EMR systems and applications for billing, patient registry and other administrative tasks as a Web service. Wal-Mart will secure software and hardware at discounted rates, allowing it to market the service at an affordable price, said a company official.
