Asian markets end mixed as investors seek indicators

Asian share markets closed mixed Wednesday, with little news or fresh data to drive them. Japan's Nikkei 225, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 were flat. South Korea's Kospi Composite and Taiwan's Taiex inched up 0.1%. China's Shanghai Composite gave up 0.7%, while New Zealand's NZX 50 and shares in the Philippines rose 0.4%. In afternoon trading, Singapore's Straits Times Index climbed 0.6%. India's Sensex inched up 0.1%, Indonesia's JSX advanced 0.4% and Thailand's SET Index added 0.3%.
