District's transition center to aid students with special needs

A Texas school district is celebrating the opening of a new life-skills center to help its students with special needs make a smoother transition from high school to more independent living. The Edgewood Transition Center, which opened Tuesday, has a mock apartment to teach students how to operate appliances and run a household; it also has space for job workshops and meetings with support agencies.
