Europe signals approval of concessions for AA/BA tie-up

The European Commission signaled Wednesday that it is satisfied with proposed concessions offered by American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia, which are seeking regulatory approval for a trans-Atlantic joint venture. The three carriers have offered to lease airport slots that would allow additional competition on service between Europe and four U.S. destinations. The EU said it would seek comment on the plan from interested parties -- normally a sign that regulators have no objections of their own.
