New Living Building Challenge beats LEED on sustainability

The Canada-based International Living Building Institute has unveiled the second-generation version of its Living Building Challenge rating system. It's a measure of "true sustainability" that goes beyond LEED Platinum standards, said Jessica Wooliams, co-director of a green building council that administers the LBC system. LBC buildings generate their own energy, recycle their water and expel minimal pollutants.
