Race to the Top finalists are preparing final presentations

Education officials from 15 states and the District of Columbia are preparing to make final presentations to the Department of Education next week in their bid for a share of $4 billion in federal Race to the Top grants. The competition is expected to be stiff, as five-person delegations will each give 30-minute presentations and participate in 60-minute question-and-answer sessions that detail their records and plans for education reform. Education Secretary Arne Duncan has said only a few of the 16 finalists will be selected to receive the first round of funding.
