NEI, utilities sue Energy Dept. over used-fuel fees

The Nuclear Energy Institute and 16 power companies filed a lawsuit against the Department of Energy to try to suspend the collection of annual fees that finance the development of a repository for used nuclear fuel. The NEI and companies are seeking the suspension because the White House has abandoned plans for the Yucca Mountain project in Nevada. The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners filed a separate challenge Monday.
