Commentary: Food manufacturers should get in front of proposed nutrition label changes

Food manufacturers should expect finalization of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's proposed changes to the nutrition facts label and should take a central role in shaping the changes, according to this commentary. In addition to offering public comments, companies should analyze the nutritional content of their own brands and prepare samples of modified labels. They should also develop a communications strategy for introducing the new labels to consumers and others.
