Hospitals increasingly use locum tenens docs to fill staffing gaps, data suggest

Data collected by Staff Care showed close to 90% of hospitals and other medical establishments used locum tenens physicians in 2013, compared with 73.6% in 2012. Nearly 55% of responding organizations do so to cover needs after physician resignation, while more than 11% use locum tenens doctors during peak workload times.
