Insurers boost spending on ACA ad campaigns

Insurers increased spending on ads featuring the Affordable Care Act from 32% the week of Feb. 17 to 46% the week of Feb. 24, according to Kantar Media CMAG. Most ads do not attempt to sway public opinion on the law and instead focus on clearing up confusion and encouraging the uninsured to enroll in a plan, Kantar Senior Vice President Elizabeth Wilner said. The CMS and advocacy group MoveOn have launched ads supporting the law, while an ad campaign from Americans for Prosperity seeks to undercut the law.
