U.S. Chamber: Shale revolution boosts energy security

An analysis by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce found the U.S.' energy security became stronger last year because of the boom in shale oil and natural gas production. According to the group's International Index of Energy Security Risk, the U.S. is now the sixth most energy secure country among 25 global energy consumers. "Combined with growing energy production from Canada and a reformed hydrocarbon sector in Mexico, it's possible we'll soon see the world's energy center of gravity shifting away from the Middle East and towards North America," said Karen Harbert, president and CEO of the Chamber's Institute for 21st Century Energy.
