Army Corps funding shortfall may delay Tennessee River lock project

The Army Corps of Engineers may face a funding shortfall next year with the Obama administration cutting its budget by 54%, to $5.1 billion. The Chickamauga Lock renovations on the Tennessee River near Chattanooga, Tenn., may not receive enough funding to continue the project. The Army Corps draws half its project funds from the Inland Waterways Trust Fund, which is depleted from several projects going over budget.
