GPS helps contractor achieve proper tolerances for Iowa taxiway

Global positioning system machine controls allowed general contractor Cedar Valley Corp. to meet tight tolerances required by the Federal Aviation Administration. Cedar Valley built a new taxiway for Eastern Iowa Airport with a tolerance requiring the grade between 0 and +/- 0.03 feet. The tolerances are necessary for a uniformly smooth surface and proper stormwater drainage.
