Partnership helps ease Gulf Coast labor shortage

A public-private partnership has helped Gulf Coast construction companies hire thousands of workers trained to rebuild the region. The Gulf Coast Workforce Development Initiative was created in 2005 after seven hurricanes caused extensive damage to communities throughout the region. So far, it has trained 20,000 workers. Trade groups donated resources to the partnership.
