Minnesota searches sewers for misplaced gas lines

After natural gas explosions destroyed two Minnesota homes last month, utility companies are inspecting area sewers in search of gas lines inadvertently bored through sewer pipes. Officials are calling for every inch of the state's sewer system to be checked using cameras capable of entering small lateral pipes as well as major sewer lines. "It's our position that the only way to be totally safe is to verify all of them," says state pipeline-safety chief Jerry Rosendahl.
