Road fatalities hit a 55-year low last year

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration projected that road fatalities across the country last year dropped to 33,963, the lowest level since 1954. In spite of the fact that traffic deaths have been decreasing since 2005, there are "far too many people dying in traffic accidents," said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.
