United confirms order for Airbus A350s

United Airlines plans to take delivery of its first Airbus A350 in 2016, with 24 more planes to follow through 2019. The company confirmed its firm order for the 25 aircraft on Wednesday, following an earlier confirmation of 25 Boeing 787s. The total order has a retail price tag of more than $10 billion, although United President John Tague has said the carrier negotiated a discount with both manufacturers.
