Survey: Genetics remains a popular area of research

Seven of the top 13 scientists in 2010, determined by a Thomson Reuters Science Watch survey, focused their research on genetics, making it the most popular field in scientific research. Eric Lander from the Broad Institute of Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology has been named the "hottest" scientist for his work on genetic sequencing and human diseases.
