Rules for muscle cuts are under consideration

Under rules proposed by the USDA, muscle cuts would not be allowed to be mixed, and information about where the animal was born, raised and slaughtered would be required on the label. "USDA expects that these changes will improve the overall operation of the program and also bring the current mandatory [country-of-origin-labeling] requirements into compliance with U.S. international trade obligations," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said.
