CMS reminds hospitals about payment adjustments in October

Eligible hospitals that failed to participate in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program will face payment adjustments starting Oct. 1, according to the CMS. To avoid the adjustments, the agency suggests that hospitals either apply for a hardship exemption if they are in a situation that hindered them from achieving meaningful use, or start the 90-day MU reporting period for 2014 on April 1 and attest by July 1.
