Compulsive disorder might drive some to tan excessively

Problematic and excessive tanning were significantly associated with positive scores for obsessive-compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder in a study of more than 500 college students. Tanning dependence was also associated with a higher likelihood of hazardous drinking and drug abuse, researchers found.
