Congress approves pediatric research funding bill

The Senate on Tuesday passed by unanimous consent a bill that would divert $126 million allotted for presidential conventions to pediatric medical research. The Gabriella Miller Kids First Research, which cleared the House in a 295-103 vote late last year, has been sent to President Barack Obama. The money, if it is included in future appropriations bills, is much less than the NIH needs, said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
