Excess weight may put women at greater risk for ovarian cancer

For every 5-point increase in body mass index, the chance of developing ovarian cancer rises by 6%, according to a report released by the American Institute for Cancer Research and the World Cancer Research Fund. Obesity has been associated with cancers of the pancreas, kidney, uterus, gallbladder, colon and thyroid, but this is the first time it has been considered as a "probable" cause of ovarian cancer, researchers said.
