Fla. House Committee supports bill giving NPs power to initiate Baker Act

The Florida House Select Committee on Health Care Workforce Innovation has approved a bill that would permit advanced registered nurse practitioners and physician assistants to begin involuntary mental health examinations under the Baker Act. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Daphne Campbell, D-Miami, would require future NPs to undergo training to accurately initiate the Baker Act.
