Generic diabetes, cholesterol drugs recalled over safety concerns

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has recalled 2,528 bottles of its metformin hydrochloride extended release tablets following a complaint indicating the presence of the seizure drug gabapentin in a bottle. Ranbaxy Laboratories has issued a recall of 64,626 bottles of its generic atorvastatin after a pharmacist reported seeing a 20-mg pill in a sealed 10-mg bottle.
