House GOP mulls legislation to push U.S. natural gas exports

Republicans in the House of Representatives are considering a bill that would speed up the government's approval of natural gas exports, said Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. Republican lawmakers are urging the government to loosen restrictions on gas exports amid the ongoing unrest in Ukraine, saying the U.S. can use its domestic energy boom as a geopolitical tool to help allied countries wean themselves from Russian energy imports. "What Putin has done with Russia to control Europe through energy -- America has a way to deal with it," McCarthy said.
