Packaging: Supersizing is out, downsizing is in

Some manufacturers' practice of supersizing packaging that can contain up to 40% empty space has fallen out of favor with consumers who are more interested in environmentally friendly product packaging. Some companies have begun to downsize materials and use options that are thinner and easier to recycle. However, the packages still have to attract consumers' attention with showing colors and shapes as the packaging is often the driving force behind the purchase, says a technical paper by interpack 2014 organizers.
