Precast concrete lends versatility to building design

Precast concrete can be used to create buildings with unique designs while addressing issues of cost and engineering challenges, writes Justin McGar. For instance, the architects of the Bella Sky Hotel achieved their vision of the two towers facing opposite directions by using precast concrete units. Meanwhile, assembled precast concrete members at the Park City Musashi Kosugi in Japan allowed the high-rise building to address seismic issues, McGar notes.
