Snowden: Consumer privacy begins with tech firms

The technology industry got some advice on consumer privacy from an unlikely source Monday: former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. In remarks via videoconference at the South by Southwest conference, Snowden called on the technology industry to build privacy and encryption tools that rival solutions such as PGP and Tor but that come pre-installed and are as easy to use as Gmail.
