Biotronik receives approval to market controversial pacemaker

Biotronik, the maker of the controversial pacemaker Philos DR-T, was granted a waiver by the FCC to sell its device, against the complaints of rival Medtronic. As a result, Biotronik plans to ramp up sales and marketing efforts on Philos DR-T, which monitors a patient's heart rate and automatically sends vital signs to far-away doctors.
