Early engineering lessons aim to inspire

Making play-dough from flour, water and salt is more than child's play for students at one Colorado Springs elementary school, which like a number of other schools, is introducing engineering alongside reading, writing and arithmetic. Such lessons that center on real-world problem-solving are meant to inspire young students in the hopes they'll one day fill out the thinning ranks of U.S. engineers.
