Fuel costs will hurt industry profits, CEOs say

The surge in the price of jet fuel could jeopardize airlines' profitability, the chief executives of Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines said. High fuel costs are the "first and foremost issue" for the industry, Delta CEO Richard Anderson said at an FAA Aviation Forecast Conference. Meanwhile, Northwest CEO Doug Steenland recently called fuel costs a "budget breaker."
