Key lawmaker to call for mandatory Web privacy guidelines

All U.S. Web sites could be subject to "mandatory guidelines" to ensure user privacy, under a measure being developed by U.S Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Va., who helms the telecommunications subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. "I do believe that there should be a minimum set of statutory requirements that should apply to all behavioral advertising," Boucher said.
