Dow focuses on green tech, JVs to avoid energy vulnerabilities

To minimize its exposure to the volatility of feedstock oil and gas prices, Dow Chemical is channeling its resources toward alternative energy and joint ventures with state-run petrochemical firms, Dow CEO Andrew Liveris said during an energy conference in Houston. Two-thirds of the company, including its units in solar shingles, biology and material sciences, already are "independent from oil and gas input," Liveris added.
