PepsiCo sets sights on low-carbon orange juice

Guilt-free OJ could soon be heading to a shelf near you, thanks to a new fertilizer trial launched by PepsiCo, owner of the Tropicana juice brand. At present, each half-gallon carton of juice produces 3.75 pounds of carbon, about a third of which can be blamed on the natural gas used to produce nitrogen fertilizers. The company is currently testing alternatives in an attempt to cut total carbon emissions by around 20%.
