Study: Statin use before OADs may improve adherence

Taking statins prior to using oral anti-diabetes drugs may help bolster statin adherence among type 2 diabetes patients, according to a study in Diabetes and Metabolism Research and Reviews. Researchers examined more than 2,000 patients and found the discontinuation rate for statins was 62.8% in those who took the drugs after they started using OADs, compared with only 48.2% in patients who took statins before OAD treatment.
