Column: Can Google help retailers compete with Amazon?

Reports that Google may help retail chains keep their customers away from doing business with Amazon by providing same-day delivery of products are circulating on the Internet, Don Davis writes in this analysis. Amazon overtook Google on shopping-related searches in 2011, according to Forrester Research. Davis details the operational issues that Google and retailers would face in implementing a delivery scheme. Finally, a Google spokeswoman says the company has "nothing to announce at this time."
