Sugar reform heats up

With sugar farmers on one side and confectioners and other food and drink-makers on the other, a fierce floor fight is expected as lawmakers consider whether sugar reform should be part of this year's farm bill. "We are not trying to put the [sugar] growers out of business. We are trying to have our own businesses survive," said NCA's vice president of government affairs Liz Clark, who participated in a congressional briefing with lawmakers’ staff last week to discuss the Sugar Reform Act.
