Duck mortality in Lake Michigan raises concerns

Hundreds of ducks have been found dead along the Lake Michigan shoreline near Chicago and Milwaukee, and officials are investigating. It's possible the lake's record ice this year has made it difficult for waterfowl to move around and access food, but a recent surge in dead ducks off Milwaukee's shoreline has Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officials concerned that an infectious disease could be involved. Several ducks underwent necropsies this week.
