Ohio initiative screens for Lynch syndrome

Thirty Ohio hospitals in the Ohio Colorectal Cancer Prevention Initiative are screening colorectal cancer patients and their relatives for the genetic disorder Lynch syndrome, which significantly raises their risk of colorectal and other cancers. So far, 2% of 700 people tested were found to carry the genetic trait, and those who have it may need more frequent and earlier colonoscopy screening.
