Opioid overdose-related ED visits linked to further hospitalization risk

Adults with a history of multiple emergency department visits for opioid overdoses were nearly four times more likely to be hospitalized again, according to a study that analyzed data on 19,831 patients treated at least once for an overdose. Frequent hospital visits were associated with double the risk of experiencing a near-fatal overdose episode.
