Va. districts look to instructional coaches for professional development

Two Virginia school districts plan to make instructional coaches the focus of their professional-development budgets. Charlottesville administrators are seeking coaches to help all teachers with a focus on math and literacy skills, while Albemarle schools already use 24 coaches among its schools. "The way to really change practice is job-embedded, teacher-directed and continuous," Albermarle's lead instructional coach, Isabel McLean, said.
