American warns of possible fees for agencies

American Airlines said last week that if it stops participating in one or more of the major global distribution systems, agencies may have to pay a greater part of the cost of accessing fares through a more expensive system. "As you make future distribution decisions, please consider adding other sources of fare content or leaving yourself the flexibility to add other sources of fare content" to avoid having to pay a fee, sales manager David Cush wrote in a letter to agencies. The airline said no fees are imminent.
