Ammonia leak forces evacuation of Saint-Gobain plant

Some 100 employees were evacuated from a plant operated by Saint-Gobain Abrasives Inc. after a faulty furnace seal caused an ammonia leak Tuesday. Two workers at the Worcester, Mass., plant were taken to a hospital for observation after complaining of respiratory pain, but no serious injuries were reported. The facility reopened almost three hours later, but the furnace has been shut down pending repair and inspection by state environmental officials.
