Melancon: Fair value didn't cause the crisis

Fair-value accounting is an important means to transparency that definitely was not responsible for causing the economic crisis, AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon says. Melancon said fair-value rules could probably benefit from some tweaking, but he said Congress should stay out of that issue and leave accounting to private-sector standards-setting organizations.
